Medford, Mass. – The Wentworth men's indoor track and field team continued to set the bar high for the season, breaking numerous school records in the field on Saturday afternoon at the Tufts Invite. The Leopards placed eighth overall with 32 points.
Freshman Jared Pierce (Biddeford, Maine) set two new records at the invitational, and placed fifth in the shot put with a 13.01m (42'08.25") mark. Pierce shattered the previous record of 12.55m set a season ago, and went on to set a new weight throw record at 12.72m (41'08.75").
Freshman Josh Klages (Reading, Mass.) cleared 1.85m in the high jump event, placing third overall. Klages' finish eared him a spot in the record books, surpassing the previous mark of 1.80m set early this season. He also ran a 9:40 in the 60m hurdles, joined by classmate Christian Army (Pembroke, N.H.) who ran 9:30 for a personal record.
Adding to her impressive season thus far, freshman Colleen Sullivan (East Bridgewater, Mass.) placed fifth in the 400m dash with a 1:04.49 finish. Sullivan qualified for the New England DIII Championships last weekend, and will complete in the 600m race in Springfield in February.
