PROVIDENCE, R.I. – A pair of 3-0 wins on Saturday helped the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's volleyball team post a 3-1 record at the Johnson & Wales University Invitational and tie for second place at the six-team event.

The Leopards opened the day with a 3-0 win against York. Wentworth took a 25-11 win in the opening game, thanks in part to five kills from junior Ross Burdett (Needham, Mass.) and a pair of aces from senior Tyler Moriarty (Wilbraham, Mass.). The Leopards hit .524 as a team and held the Cardinals to -.067 for the game.

Wentworth took the second game by a 25-21 score with junior Mike Buonincontra (Shelton, Conn.) recording four kills and sophomore Sean Donahue (Lincoln, R.I.) and junior Brian Mann (East Freetown, Mass.) recording three and two blocks, respectively. The Black & Gold closed out the match with a 25-21 win in the third game as Buonincontra added three more kills.

Wentworth avenged an early-season loss to Daniel Webster with a sweep of the Eagles. A back-and-forth first set resulted in the Leopards taking a 1-0 advantage after hitting .375 as a team.

The Leopards won the next two games by identical 3-0 scores, hitting over .300 in each game and holding Daniel Webster to under a .200 attack percentage in each game.
