Three Men's Volleyball Players Named All-GNAC

BOSTON, Mass. – Three members of the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's volleyball team have earned all-conference honors from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference, as recently announced by Commissioner Joe Walsh.

Junior outside hitter Ross Burdett (Needham, Mass.) was named, for the second straight season, Second Team All-GNAC, while senior setter Tyler Moriarty (Wilbraham, Mass.) and junior middle hitter Brian Mann (East Freetown, Mass.) were named Third Team All-GNAC.

Burdett recorded 314 kills, an attack percentage of .265, and 144 digs while playing in all of the Leopards' 31 matches and 101 of a possible 107 games. He recorded a career-best .619 attack percentage in a 3-0 win over Newbury and three blocks in a 3-0 win over Johnson & Wales. For his career he ranks second in Wentworth program history with 991 kills, fourth with 506 digs, and eighth with 78 service aces.

Moriarty concluded his career as the top setter in program history after he had 965 assists, which was the second-highest in a single season, behind his 991 set during his sophomore season. He also had 45 kills, 36 aces, and 170 digs and notched a career-high 17 digs in a GNAC Tournament loss to Emerson. Moriarty ranks at the top of the program's all-time list with 3,481 assists, 118 service aces, 111 matches played, and 377 games played while his 637 digs rank him second all-time.

Playing in all 31 matches and 106 of a possible 107 games, Mann recorded 232 kills, an attack percentage of .374, and 110 blocks. He recorded a career-high 14 kills in a win over Lasell, a match that also saw him hit a career-best .565, and had a career-high eight blocks in a loss to Sage in the ECAC finals. His 110 blocks this past season were the fifth-highest in a season in program history and his 68 block solos and 168 total blocks rank him eighth and 10th, respectively.

The Leopards completed the 2013 season with a 20-11 record. The 20 wins tied the program record, which was set two years ago. Wentworth earned its second ECAC Tournament berth in the last three seasons, defeating Elmira, 3-0, in the semifinals and falling to Sage, 3-1, in the championship.
