Donahue Earns ECAC Division III North Player of the Week Honors

BOSTON, Mass. – Junior middle blocker Sean Donahue (Lincoln, R.I.) of the Wentworth Institute of technology men's volleyball team has been named the Corvias ECAC Men's Volleyball Division III North Player of the Week for week ending April 6, 2014.

Donahue, who was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, played in two of Wentworth's four matches and put up impressive numbers, averaging a block per set, while hitting .476 on the offensive side. In a 3-1 win over Emmanuel – Wentworth's first over the Saints in 14 tries – he had five block assists to go along with a .438 attack percentage as he had nine kills on 16 attempts. Donahue had a 17-kill, three-block performance in Wentworth's first win over fifth-ranked Rivier in 24 tries and he also hit .500 for the match.

Playing 24 matches and 79 sets, Donahue leads the GNAC in attack percentage, hitting .423 as he has 157 kills and only 33 errors on 293 swings. He also has recorded 80 total blocks, for a 1.01 block per set average. In two seasons with the Black & Gold, he is averaging 2.12 kills and 0.89 digs per set and is hitting .403.

Wentworth sits at 25-7 overall and finished GNAC play with a 10-2 record. The Leopards will host Emmanuel in a GNAC Semifinal tonight at 7:00 p.m.
