Potts Named ECAC Player of the Week

DANBURY, Conn. – For the second time this season, sophomore Alex Potts of the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's volleyball team has been honored by the ECAC as he was named the ECAC North Region Co-Player of the Week.

Potts' honor comes a day after he was named – for the second time in three weeks – the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week and was for his play during the Leopards' 4-0 week last week.

In four matches (13 sets), Potts had a solid, two-way week as he averaged 2.62 kills and 1.46 blocks per set while hitting .431 for the week. In a 3-0 win over New Jersey City, he tied the program's single-match (three sets) record with eight blocks and had 11 kills and seven blocks in a 3-1 win over Vassar. Earlier in the week he had eight kills on nine swings (.889 attack percentage) in a 3-0 win over Lasell and had nine kills in a 3-0 win over Emerson.

Potts is averaging 2.31 kills and 1.33 blocks per set while hitting .452. He is presently fourth among Division III student-athletes in attack percentage and blocks per set.

Wentworth is at Springfield on Saturday for a tri-match against Hunter and the third-ranked Pride.
