Potts Named ECAC Player of the Week

BOSTON, Mass. – After a 3-1 week, which included a pair of wins over national ranked foes, junior middle hitter Alex Potts (Niverville, N.Y.) of the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's volleyball team has been named the ECAC Division III North Region Player of the Week for matches played from January 25-31.

For the week, Potts hit .565, which included averaging 3.23 kills and 0.77 blocks per set. He had two matches where he recorded double figures in kills and hit above .500 in three of the four matches.

Potts had 11 kills and three blocks while hitting .529 in a 3-1 win to then No. 13 MIT, which was the Leopards' first win over the Engineers in the last 21 meetings between the two schools. He followed that up with a nine-kill, four-block performance in a 3-0 win over Albertus Magnus in which he had a perfect attack percentage.

He was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Clash at Kean after hitting .472 (22-5-36) and averaging 3.14 kills and 0.57 blocks per set. In a 3-0 win over then No. 11 Baruch he had nine kills and five digs and, in a 3-1 loss to then No- 5 Rutgers Newark, he hit .632 (13-1-19) with a pair of blocks.

Through eight matches, Potts is averaging 2.52 kills and 1.04 blocks per set while hitting .588. His attack percentage is presently second among all Division III men's volleyball student-athletes.

Wentworth, presently ranked 14th in the latest AVCA Division III Poll, is 5-3 and is at Endicott tonight.
