Roat, Rogachefsky Earn Weekly GNAC Honors

BOSTON, Mass. – In a week which saw the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's volleyball team close out the regular season with a pair of wins and earn the top seed in the upcoming Great Northeast Athletic Conference Tournament, a pair of Leopards were honored by the GNAC as sophomore Jon Roat (Macedon, N.Y.) was named the conference's offensive player of the week while junior Mike Rogachefsky (Rochester, N.Y.) took home defensive player of the week honors. The awards included matches played from March 25-April 1.

Roat averaged 4.00 kills per set and hit an impressive .542 for the week while also recording 11 digs and three blocks. In a 3-1 win at Lasell, he had 15 kills, eight digs, and two blocks while hitting .481 and finished the week by recording 13 kills on 21 swings with zero attack errors (.619) in a 3-0 win at Emerson. On the season he is averaging 2.85 kills, 1.31 digs per set while hitting .317.

Rogachefsky helped the Leopards to a 2-0 week after averaging 3.29 digs per set. He had 12 in the win over Lasell and followed that up with 11 in the win over Emerson. In 27 matches, Rogachefsky is averaging 2.30 digs per set which includes 22 in a 3-2 loss to Emmanuel on March 17.

Wentworth sits at 20-8 overall and wrapped up GNAC play with a 12-2 record. The top-seeded Leopards will host either Emmanuel or Johnson & Wales in a semifinal match on Thursday.
