Ritter Named AVCA Division III Player of the Week

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Senior setter Collin Ritter (Feeding Hills, Mass.) of the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's volleyball team has been named the Sports Imports/American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III Men's Volleyball National Player of the week. Ritter earns the honor for matches played from March 6-12.

Ritter helped the Leopard win three matches at the Cal-Lu-Fornia Invitational, held at California Lutheran University this past weekend. He averaged 11.92 assists per set to go along with 1.83 digs and 0.92 blocks per set while helping the Leopards hit .348. He had a pair of matches in which he had 50 or more assists, recording 54 helpers in a 3-2 win over Benedictine Mesa and adding 56 in a 3-1 win over second-ranked UC-Santa Cruz. In the win over the Banana Slugs he also had nine digs and five blocks. Ritter also had 33 assists and three blocks in a 3-0 win over Cal Lutheran.

In 18 matches (57 sets) Ritter is averaging 9.37 assists per set which has helped the Black & Gold hit .299 on the season. He is also averaging 1.63 digs and 0.54 blocks per set. The program's all-time leader in assists per set (9.82), he is second all-time in program history with 2,574 helpers.

This is the second Sports Imports/AVCA Player of the Week in program history, with the other coming from David Rooth on February 14, 2000.

Presently ranked 10th in Division III, Wentworth hosts Emerson and Albertus Magnus in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference tri-match on Sunday.
