Ritter, Oshman Sweep GNAC Men's Volleyball Weekly Awards

BOSTON, Mass. – Seniors Collin Ritter (Feeding Hills, Mass.) and Ollie Oshman (Pennington, N.J.) swept the first Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men's volleyball weekly awards, as announced Monday afternoon by the conference office. Ritter was named as the GNAC Offensive Player of the Week, while Oshman was named as Defensive Player of the Week.

Ranked at No. 10 to start the season by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), the Leopards came out of the SUNY Poly Wildcat Invitational with a 3-1 record, highlighted by a 3-2 comeback win against the No. 4 ranked Brewers of Vassar College. Wentworth knocked down Wells College 3-1 and SUNY Poly 3-0, and fell short in the opening match against Nazareth 3-2.

Ritter registered a triple-double in the takedown against Vassar, hitting .550 with 13 kills, 27 assists, and ten digs. In the Leopards' opening match against Nazareth, Ritter had 11 kills and 23 assists, before closing out the tournament with 21 assists against the host Wildcats. The senior setter averaged 2.18 kills per set and 5.65 assists per set for the week, collectively adding 37 kills, 96 assists, and 19 digs.  

Oshman jumped off for 32 total blocks over the four matches, and broke the single-match blocks record in four sets (10) in Wentworth's 3-1 victory over Wells. Oshman recorded eight blocks apiece in Wentworth's wins over Vassar and SUNY Poly, and added six in the season-opener against Nazareth.  Overall, the senior middle hitter averaged 1.88 blocks per set, and hit .468 offensively with 28 kills.

Wentworth is on the road Thursday night for a 7:00 p.m. matchup with Newbury.
