In his 12th season at the helm, Evin Giglio has put the Wentworth Institute of Technology men’s volleyball team in the national spotlight in a short period of time.

The program went to new heights in 2022, as the team set all-time records in wins (30) and win percentage (.857), and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Semifinals for the second time in program history. The team started the season off on a nine-match winning streak, and in their run to the NCAA Tournament ran off another 15 straight wins. After claiming the No. 1 seed in the GNAC Tournament, the Leopards picked up back-to-back straight set victories. They first defeated Elms College 3-0, then in the GNAC Championship won in straight sets against No. 2 seed Lasell University, clinching a berth in the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season. After another 3-0 victory in the first round of the NCAA Tournament over #10 ranked St. John Fisher College, Wentworth scored a 3-1 win against the University of Rutgers-Newark to advance to the National Championship Semifinal, where they fell short to eventual champion Carthage College. The Leopards had eight members of the team earn All-Conference awards, including Giglio, who was named GNAC Coach of the Year. The team had three players named AVCA All-Region and AVCA All-Americans, as sophomore Jacob LaBouliere, junior Hunter Oshman, and senior Connor Adams all earned the awards, with LaBouliere twice being named AVCA DIII Player of the Week. As part of their 15-match winning streak, the team won 32 consecutive sets, setting a new program record.

Playing a reduced schedule in 2021, Wentworth made its third trip to the NCAA Tournament in the last six seasons, finishing with an 8-3 record. The Leopards recorded a pair of wins over nationally ranked teams in then No. 8 Endicott and, to conclude the regular season, a triumph over then No. 1 Springfield. Making the tournament as an at-large selection for the first time, the Leopards defeated New Jersey City in the first round (3-0) before falling to No. 6 Southern Virginia, 3-0, in the quarterfinals. The member of the Leopards were named AVCA All-Region, Giglio was named AVCA Regional Coach of the Year, and the Black & Gold added a first team, seocnd team, and honorable mention All-American to their resume. Senior David Marsh led all of DIvision III in blocks per set while classmate Peter Kembczyk became the program's first Academic All-American.

In Giglio’s first season – which coincided with the Leopards’ first campaign in the GNAC – he guided the Black & Gold to a 13-16 finish and a fourth-place finish in the league. Wentworth faced a challenging non-conference schedule and would play a total of five teams which were nationally ranked at one point in the season, including national champion Springfield College.

The 2013 season saw the Leopards enjoy a solid start out of the gates with a 9-4 record and would enjoy a five-match win streak in the latter half of the season. Wentworth finished third in the GNAC and, for the second straight season, hosted a post-season contest. The Leopards, who finished 20-11, reached the 20-win mark for the second time in three seasons, and earn the program’s second ECAC Tournament berth in three seasons. In the ECAC Tournament, Wentworth swept Elmira in the semifinals before falling to host Sage Colleges in the finals.

A strong recruiting class helped the Leopards take another step towards national recognition in 2014 as Wentworth enjoyed its finest season to-date. The Black & Gold, who started the season 7-0 for the first time in program history and were 12-2 after 14 matches, finished with a 27-8 record and captured the ECAC Championship after rallying from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Stevenson, 3-2. Wentworth enjoyed numerous signature wins during the season, including downing Emmanuel and Rivier in consecutive matches and ended the regular season on a 10-match win streak. The Leopards earned a bye in the GNAC Tournament before falling in the semifinals. Giglio, who was named as a AVCA Thirty Under 30 recipient, was the GNAC Coach of the Year and six of his players earned All-GNAC honors.

The 2015 season saw the Leopards finish 23-9 and earn a trip to the GNAC semifinals for the second consecutive season. During the season Wentworth had a six-match win streak which included a 3-1 win at fifth-ranked Springfield. This win helped the Leopards earn their first appearance in the AVCA Division III Top 15 for the first time since the 2001 season and the Black & Gold stayed ranked for seven consecutive seasons, in addition to being regionally ranked by the NCAA. While the Leopards saw their run at a GNAC title end with a semifinal loss at eventual GNAC champion Lasell, Wentworth earned its second straight ECAC Tournament berth where the Leopards defeated Southern Vermont in the semifinals before falling to host Stevenson in the finals. Six players earned All-GNAC honors, including Sean Mullen who was tabbed as the league’s rookie of the year.

The 2016 campaign saw Giglio take the Leopards to new heights as Wentworth captured the Great Northeast Athletic Conference regular-season and tournament championships for the first time in program history. The GNAC Championship was not without drama, however, as Wentworth rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Emmanuel, 3-2, in the semifinals, and battled back from a 2-1 deficit to defeat Rivier, 3-2, in the finals. By virtue of the conference championship, Wentworth earned the program’s first-ever bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament, and, in front of a home crowd, defeated Hunter, 3-0, in the first round. The Leopards battled top-ranked, top-seeded, and eventual national champion SUNY New Paltz in the national quarterfinals, however dropped a 3-1 decision to finish the season 23-9 for a second consecutive season. Six members of the program were named All-GNAC, including Alex Potts, who became the program’s first-ever AVCA Division III All-American and led all of Division III in hitting percentage. Wentworth was nationally ranked for a majority of the season, finishing the season No. 11, the highest ranking in program history.

Giglio took the fifth-ranked Leopards to new heights in the 2017 season. After capturing their second straight Great Northeast Athletic Conference title, Wentworth advanced to the NCAA semifinal round for the first time in program history, topping an NCAA quarterfinal appearance in 2016. The quarterfinal victory on the national level established both a program record for wins in a season for and consecutive victories (11), as the Leopards swept No. 12 Juniata. Giglio was named as the GNAC Coach of the Year after the standout season, the Leopards saw four players reach AVCA All-America status, and eight players received All-Conference honors, including an Offensive Player of the Year nod.

In both the 2018 and 2019 seasons, Giglio took the Leopards to the GNAC Championship match, winning 41 matches during this stretch and yet again being ranked in both the AVCA and NCAA regional polls. In 2018, the program boasted the GNAC Offensive Player and Rookie of the Year and produced its sixth AVCA All-American in a three-year span.

While the 2020 campaign was cut short due to COVID-19, the Leopards had a successful campaign, opening the season with a win over a nationally ranked opponent and finished with a 12-5 record. The Leopards earned both Great Northeast Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year, while three student-athletes were named to the AVCA All-Region Team.

Prior to arriving at Wentworth in the fall of 2011 Giglio served as an Assistant Women's Volleyball Coach at Austin Peay University during the 2010 season where he primarily worked with the middle blockers as well as assisting with practice planning, player evaluation, scouting reports, film breakdown, team travel, and gameday operations. The Governors enjoyed their best record in 18 seasons, going 25-7 (14-4 Ohio Valley Conference) won their first OVC Championship since 1991 and earned the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament berth.

Giglio was involved with the men's volleyball program at Springfield College for two seasons. As a junior, he appeared in seven matches and helped the Pride to a 14-10 record and a berth in the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association – a Division I men's volleyball conference – Quarterfinals. A year later he was a student assistant for the Pride, helping them to a 20-11 record and the sixth Molten Division III Men's Volleyball National Championship in program history. He graduated from Springfield in 2010 with a Bachelor's degree in communication/sports journalism.

Before transferring Springfield, Giglio played two seasons for Moorpark (Calif.) College where he was a starting middle blocker and served as a team captain. He recorded 12 blocks in a match, which still stands as a program record. In addition to playing for the Raiders, he was also a student assistant for the women's team. He earned an Associate's degree from Moorpark in 2008. In 2018, he earned a Master's Degree from Concordia University-Irvine in Coaching and Athletic Administration.

Giglio served as Wentworth’s Head Women’s Volleyball Coach for eight seasons (2012-2020), posting a 143-82 (.636) record. In 2018 his Leopards won their first-ever Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship and earned the program’s first trip to the NCAA Tournament, while in 2019, Wentworth produced its firt women’s volleyball All-American.

He also serves as an equipment and facilities assistant in the department.
