Men's Cross Country Places Third at UNE

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Freshman Dan McSolla (Bridgewater, Mass.) finished fourth to help the Wentworth men's cross country team finish third in the 12-team University of New England Invitational. The Leopards' were originally awarded second place, however a timing malfunction led to a recalculation of the scores and Wentworth's 89 points were behind Gordon's 87.

The host Nor'Easters, claimed their first-ever win at their invitational after recording 24 points.

McSolla's covered the eight-kilometer course in 26:31 for his fourth-place finish (three points), freshman Patrick Hopkins (Lansdale, Pa.) ran a time of 27:18 to finish13th (11 points), freshman Stephen Gencarelli (Westerly, R.I.) finished with a time of 27:40 to finish 18th (16 points), freshman Alex Robbins (Mansfield, Mass.) covered the course in a time of 27:53 for a 21st-place (19 points) finish, and junior Kyle Schwartz (South Windsor, Conn.) finished 44th (40 points) with a time of 28:58.

Freshman Clary Harman (Broad Brook, Conn.) finished 67th with a time of 28:58 and classmate Noah Conti (Swampscott, Mass.) was 69th with a time of 30:07. Sophomore David Ouellette (Wells, Maine) was 74th after finishing with a time of 30:22, sophomore Ben Cautela (Westwood, Mass.) was 76th with a time of 30:29, and sophomore Mike Zanni (Reading, Mass.) finished with a time of 32:37, good for 113th place.

Wentworth returns to action on Saturday, September 27, competing at the Pop Crowell Invitational.
