SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Freshman Patrick Hopkins (Lansdale, Pa.) of the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's cross country team has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference Rookie of the Week for the week of September 29-October 5.

Hopkins helped the Leopards earn their first-ever team title as the Black & Gold, competing in their inaugural season, amassed 34 points to capture the Tri-State Invitational title. Wentworth's 34 points was 29 better than second place Eastern Connecticut in the nine-team event.

Crossing the finish line in a time of 27:20.02, Hopkins finished second overall, narrowing edging teammate (and classmate) Dan McSolla, who was third with a time of 27:20.30. The Leopards placed four runners among the first seven to cross the finish line.

Wentworth will compete at the Saints Invitational on October 17 at Boston's Franklin Park.
