SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Freshman Stephen Gencarelli (Westerly, R.I.) of the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's cross country team has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference Rookie of the Week for races run during the week of October 13-19.

Gencarelli becomes the third Leopard runner to earn this honor in the program's inaugural season after he finished fourth out of 207 runners at the Emmanuel Saints Invitational. He was the first freshman to cross the finish line, logging a personal best time of 27:21 over the eight-kilometer course. The Leopards totaled 69 points, which was just four points behind Babson for the team title.

In each of its six races this season Wentworth has finished fourth or higher and will next compete at the CCC Championships on November 1.
