Men's Cross Country Finishes Eighth at ECAC Championships

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Competing in its second to last event of its inaugural season, the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's cross country team finished eighth at the 2014 ECAC Division III New England Championships. The Leopards amassed 281 points for their eighth-place finish, which was in a field for 43 teams.

Williams College took home the team title with 57 points, while Tufts (71), Amherst (111), Colby (117), and Bates (123) rounded out the top five team scores.

Freshman Dan McSolla (Bridgewater, Mass.) finished 23rd with a time of 26:21 with classmate Patrick Hopkins (Lansdale, Pa.) finished eight seconds behind McSolla for a 28th-place finish (26:29). Freshman Alex Robbins (Mansfield, Mass.) finished 47th (26:51), freshman Stephen Gencarelli (Westerly, R.I.) was 63rd (27:06), and junior Kyle Schwartz (South Windsor, Conn.) rounded out Wentworth's scoring runners with a time of 28:09, placing him 121st (120 points).

Sophomore David Ouellette (Wells, Maine) crossed the finish line in a time of 29:07 to finish 175th and freshman Zach Howey (Pitman, N.J.) was 180th out of the 303-runner field with a time of 29:15.

Wentworth will conclude the 2014 season next weekend at the NCAA Division III New England Regionals in Williamstown, Mass.
