Robbins Takes First at Paul Short Run

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Senior Alex Robbins (Mansfield, Mass.) ran a time of 25:39 and recorded a first-place finish as the Wentworth Institute of Technology cross country team picked up a 13th place finish at the Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh University.

The Leopards 13th-place was in the Men's College White Race and consisted of 36 NCAA Division II and III institutions. The Black & Gold scored 337 points and had an average time of 27:10.

Robbins' fastest time of the year bested his closest competitor by nine seconds and he was one of two Wentworth runners to finish in the top 10 as classmate Patrick Hopkins recorded a sixth-place finish with a time of 26:05.

Junior Josh Gangemi (Norton, Mass.) was 67th (66 points) with a time of 27:21. Freshman Tyler Cosma (Center Moriches, N.Y.) placed 127th (122 points) with a time of 28:12. Senior Zach Howey (Sherwood, Ark.) was 151st (142 points) after crossing the line with a time of 28:33.

Freshman Anthony Maida (Peabody, Mass.) finished 158th (28:40) while freshman Davio DeLuca (Nottingham, N.H.) was 2017th when he crossed the line in a time of 30:12. A total of 283 runners competed in the race.

Four Leopards competed in the Open Race. Freshman Wes Brimeyer (Dubuque, Iowa) was 281st with a time of 29:25, junior Nathan Ouellette (Wells, Maine) was 286th with a time of 29:30, freshman Rob Moran (Billerica, Mass.) was 302nd with a time of 30:31, and junior Chris Kaberle (Pelham, N.H.) was 315th in the 336-runner race with a time of 31:28.

Wentworth next competes at the Saints Invitational on October 13.
