Strong Team Performance Earns Cross Country Eighth Place Finish at James Early Invite

WESTFIELD, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology men's cross country team took eighth place at the 23rd Annual James Earley Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Stanley Park. Trinity won the team title with a total of 64 points, UMass Dartmouth took second with 84, and Norwich finished in third with 108.

"It was a solid team effort today," commented assistant coach Dan McSolla, stepping in for head coach Dan Roark. "They ran as a team, grouped up early and worked together. A couple of PR's sprinkled in there so that was a plus, but the teamwork was definitely the biggest success of the day."

Senior Josh Gangemi (Norton, Mass.) led the Leopards with a 29th place finish at 27:20.1 on the 8K course, and was not far off from his personal record.

Sophomore Tyler Cosma (Center Moriches, N.Y.) accounted for one of two PR's on the day, and ran a 28:02.0 with a 49th place finish. Classmate Tom Caruso (Mahopac, N.Y.) crossed the finish line slightly after Cosma at 28:18.4.

Wentworth's second PR came from sophomore Wes Brimeyer (Dubuque, Iowa), who ran a 28:23.7, while classmate Will Allen's (West Hartford, Conn.) finish of 28:33.5 was just short of a personal best.

Finishing the race for the Leopards was freshman Alexander Foote (North Easton, Mass.) and senior Chris Kaberle (Pelham, N.H.), who grouped up to finish at 33:42.28 and 33:43.65, respectively.

Up next, the Leopards will travel across town to Franklin Park for the Suffolk Invitational on October 12th.
