SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Student-athletes from eight different institutions in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) were represented on the 2014 All-CCC Softball Team. In addition to the all-conference team, winners of five major individual awards and the team sportsmanship award were also selected.

Curry's Marissa Bruno and Roger Williams' Samantha Mittel were chosen as CCC Rookies of the Year, while University of New England's Ali Stanley was honored as CCC Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Salve Regina's Jessica DePolito and Endicott's Mark Veilleux were honored as CCC Coaches of the Year and Gordon College was the recipient of the Team Sportsmanship Award.

Voting for the All-CCC team and each of the major awards was conducted among CCC head softball coaches.

Wentworth Institute of Technology had a pair of players earn all-conference honors as junior catcher Liz Glavin (Ipswich, Mass.) and junior shortstop Sam Curran (Quincy, Mass.) were named to the second team. Curran was named to one of the two utility positions.

Glavin, who earned CCC Rookie of the Year honors in 2012, had an impressive season for the Black & Gold as she batted .460 (40-for-87) with nine doubles, a triple, five home runs, 18 runs scored, and 32 RBI. She also had an on-base percentage of .495 and a slugging percentage of .759. Her 40 hits set a new single-season program record.

Glavin is presently the program's career leader in batting average and slugging percentage (.730), while ranking second in on-base percentage (.475), doubles, home runs, and total bases (184), while ranking third in RBI and fifth in career hits.

Curran had the finest season of her career to date as she batted .417 (35-for-84) with 11 doubles, three triples, and a pair of home runs to go along with six stolen bases, 30 runs scored, and 13 RBI.
