Luquet Steps Down as Softball Coach

BOSTON, Mass. – Caitlin Luquet, who has guided the Wentworth Institute of Technology softball program for the past two seasons, has announced that she is leaving the position to relocate back to her native California. Associate Director of Athletics Danielle Ferrara accepted Luquet's resignation.

"Caitlin has been a valued member of our team for the last two seasons," said Ferrara. "She is an extremely knowledgeable coach who related well to her student-athletes. We are all sorry to see her leave, however we wish her well in her future endeavors."

In her two seasons in the Leopard dugout, Luquet coached two players who earned All-Commonwealth Coast Conference honors each season in Sam Curran and Liz Glavin. Curran would be named the 2015 CCC Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year, was a two-time Capital One Academic All-America®, and was the 2015 Capital One Division III Softball Academic All-America® of the Year.

Luquet's teams improved in many statistical categories from 2014 to 2015 including batting average, earned run average, fielding percentage, and opponents' batting average. Wentworth's 2015 batting average, on-base percentage, and slugging percentage ranked among the top 10 in a single season in program history.

I would like to thank the Wentworth community for the opportunity I was given to be the head softball coach for the last two seasons," said Luquet. "I will always be grateful to Wentworth and especially the student-athletes I coached. This program is one of a kind and I wish them nothing but success in the future. While I am sad to leave Wentworth, I look forward to what the future may hold in California."
