Softball Closes 2019 Campaign at Salve Regina

NEWPORT, R.I. – Two Salve pitchers tossed one-hitters to lead the Seahawks to a conference sweep over Wentworth Institute of Technology on Saturday afternoon at Toppa Field.

The Leopards drop to 12-19 overall and conclude conference play at 4-12, both win totals marking the most since the 2010 season. Despite Wentworth's record win total in conference, the Leopards were eliminated from the postseason from Gordon's victory over Western New England to give them five wins in league play.

Freshman Alexandra Pina (Cumberland, R.I.) and sophomore Brionna Myers (Seabrook, N.H.) were the lone Leopards able to connect at the plate from Salve's heat, spoiling the no-no for the Seahawks.

Sophomore Kayla DeMedeiros (South Dartmouth, Mass.) finishes the year at 6-9 in the circle with eight earned runs in the opener, while freshman Katie Verreault (Scarborough, Maine) tossed game two with one strikeout and four earned runs to cap her rookie campaign at 3-4.
