Briana Beverly (Pawcatuck, Conn.), Alexandra Pina (Cumberland, R.I.), Sabrina Haarstick (Bellingham, Mass.), Abby Morin (Dudley, Mass.), Isabelle Frank (Dix Hills, N.Y.), Aurora Wilks (Fruitport, Mich.), and Ceilidh Higgins (Medway, Mass.) were all recognized prior to game one.

GAME ONE: Endicott 9, Wentworth 1

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

Wentworth Batting Leaders: Kaitlin Pettenger (1-for-3, 3B, 1R)
Wentworth Pitching Leaders: Kayla DeMedeiros ((L, 8-7) 4 IP, 4 ER, 8H, 2K)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Endicott jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first, starting with the first two batters reaching base. The Gulls then got back-to-back RBI singles from Chrissy Marotto (Southington, Conn.) and Lauren Misiaszek (Londonderry, N.H.). Riley Gamache (Litchfield, N.H.) had an RBI single of her own to make it 3-0, but the Leopards got out of the inning, as junior Kaitlin Pettenger (Budd Lake, N.J.) threw her out at second on the play for the third out.
  • Wentworth got one back in the home half of the first, as Pettenger led off the inning with a triple. After a walk from Beverly, Pettenger came in to score on an error. The Leopards had a chance to tie it with runners on second and third with nobody out, but the next three batters were set down to keep it a 3-1 game.
  • The visitors went down in order in the second, and despite a two-out single by Pina, Wentworth couldn't cut into the deficit in the second.
  • Endicott led off the third with a walk and single to put two runners on with no one out, but the Leopards turned a double play one batter later. A groundout ended the inning to keep it a two-run game. Wentworth again got a runner on in the third after a single by Wilks, but again were unable to get a run across.
  • With two out and runners on first and second in the top of the fourth, Endicott threatened to extend their lead. Following a single, the Leopards were able to catch a Gulls baserunner in a rundown to end the inning as the score remained 3-1.
  • The home team went down quickly in the fourth, and Endicott took advantage in the fifth. The first two runners reached base and were on second and third, followed by a two-run single by Marotto to make it a four-run lead for the Gulls. An error allowed Marotto to come in to score, and two straight singles brought in another run. Another Wentworth error made it an 8-1 game in favor of Endicott, and an RBI groundout from Keelin Spencer (San Jose, Calif.) brought in the sixth run of the inning to make it a 9-1 game.
  • The Leopards got two runners on with one out in the fifth, but a groundout followed by a strikeout ended the inning as the Gulls took game one by a 9-1 final.

GAME TWO: Endicott 5, Wentworth 0

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

Wentworth Batting Leaders: Katelin Howe (1-for-1)
Wentworth Pitching Leaders: Erin Hancock ((L, 7-6), 7 IP, 3 ER, 11 H, 1K)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Both teams went down in order in the top of the first, but Endicott took the lead in the second. The first two runners reached base and advanced to second and third on a sacrifice bunt, then a sacrifice fly by Lauren Bower (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) brought in the first run of game two.
  • Wentworth didn't get a runner on base in the second, and the Gulls added to their lead in their next turn at bat. After a double and single to start the inning, Katie Watts (Swampscott, Mass.) singled in a run. Raven Comotis (Milford, N.H.) did the same, but Wentworth was able to catch Watts in a rundown for the first out. An error then allowed Comotis to come around and score as the visitors jumped ahead 4-0.
  • Junior Erin Hancock (Holden, Mass.) led off the third with a walk, but the next three batters went down, keeping it a four-run advantage for Endicott.
  • After both teams didn't get a runner on in the fourth, the Gulls picked up a one-out double in the fifth from Spencer, but Hancock retired the next two batters to get out of the inning.
  • After Wentworth again went down 1-2-3 in the fifth, two singles and a sac bunt put runners on second and third in the top of the sixth as the visitors looked to extend their lead. But Hancock got the next two batters to pop up, as the Leopards still trailed 4-0.
  • Unable to get going offensively in the sixth, the home team surrendered another run in the top of the seventh. With two out and a runner on first, back-to-back singles by Comotis and Marotto brought in the fifth run for the Gulls. A leadoff single by freshman Katelin Howe (Bow, N.H.) got the Leopards a baserunner in the seventh, but a double play and pop up gave Endicott a 5-0 game two win.
