MILTON, Mass. – Sophomore Molly Plunkett (Quincy, Mass.) recorded a double-double, scoring 20 points and grabbing 10 rebounds to help pace the Curry College women's basketball team to a 63-37 victory over Wentworth Institute of Technology in Commonwealth Coast Conference action Wednesday night.

With the win the Colonels improve to 5-9 overall and 3-4 in CCC play while the Leopards fall to 2-12 (0-7).

Curry scored the game's first 13 points, taking a 15-0 lead 6:36 into the quarter. Freshman Paige Senatore (Ayer, Mass) had five points in the run and Plunkett and junior Nicole Rice (Woburn, Mass.) added four points apiece. Wentworth ended its scoring drought on its next possession on a basket from freshman Emily Magasic (West Milford, N.J.), however the Colonels led 17-4 at the end of the first quarter.

An 11-4 Curry run to open the second quarter extended the lead to 28-8 as Plunkett had seven points in the run. Wentworth scored the next six, including a three pointer from freshman Sam McGibbon (Pembroke, Mass.), but the hosts would lead by 17 (33-16) at the break.

Senior Kellie Messer (Hollis, N.H.) and sophomore Baylor Johnson (Greer, S.C.) opened the second half with baskets for Wentworth, cutting the deficit to 13. An 8-2 run, capped off by a pair of Plunkett free throws made it 41-22 with 5:52 remaining and the Colonels would hold the Leopards without a field goal over the final 5:30 of the quarter while building their lead to 22 (47-25).

Wentworth scored the first six points of the fourth quarter to make it a 16-point game after a junior Haley Sabino (Topsfield, Mass.) basket. However, Curry would use a 13-2 run to end the comeback bid.
