Neither team could get into a rhythm early before junior Baylor Johnson (Greer, S.C.) gave Wentworth a 4-2 lead. Emerson responded with a 11-0 run and took a 13-4 lead on a sophomore Natalie Clydesdale (Pittsburgh, Pa.) layup with 4:49 left in the opening quarter. Emerson opened the second quarter outscoring Wentworth, 9-1, capped off by a three pointer from sophomore Quinn Madden (Mokena, Ill.) with 5:02 left. A three from senior Courtney McCormick (Hanson, Mass.) and a jumper from classmate Haley Sabino (Topsfield, Mass.) made it a four-point game (28-24) with 3:27 remaining in the half. One of two free throws from freshman Rachel Davey (Saratoga, Calif.) extended the lead to 29-24 before freshman Erin Morton (Norway, Maine) began a 5-1 spurt which saw the hosts take a 31-30 lead on a Madden layup. Senior Eastin Ashby (Pittston, Pa.) gave the Lions a 32-31 lead with 27 seconds left, however, on the next possession, freshman Stephanie Mini (Topsfield, Mass.) made a layup to give the Black & Gold a 33-32 lead at the break. Both teams went cold from the floor, however, the Lions pushed their lead to five with 2:04 remaining. With 9.4 seconds left, senior Maya Savino (Killingworth, Conn.) hit one of two from the line to make it 61-59 before sophomore Sam McGibbon (Pembroke, Mass.) tied the game with a jumper with 5.7 seconds left. Emerson advanced the ball and called time out with 4.8 seconds left. Madden missed a jumper which would have given Emerson the win at the buzzer, sending the game into overtime.

One of two free throws from Sabino and a jumper by Morton gave Wentworth a 64-61 lead before Madden hit a three to even the score at 64-all. The teams traded baskets before four straight points from Foultz gave the Lions a 70-66 lead. One of two free throws from Mini made it a three-point game and Foultz connected on one of two from the line to make it 71-67 with 10.2 ticks left to seal the win.
