Women's Basketball Holds off Late Lesley Charge
Leopards prevail, 59-52, after the Lynx make a late run; Taylor Garabedian (18 points, 13 rebounds, five steals) records a double-double

BOSTON, Mass. – Taylor Garabedian recorded a double-double, leading all scorers with 18 points and grabbing a career-high 13 rebounds as the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's basketball team defeated Lesley, 59-52, in non-conference action Tuesday evening.
With the win the Leopards improve to 2-3 while the Lynx slip to 4-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After Lesley opened the game with a 4-1 lead, Garabedian hit a three point to even the score 2:22 into the contest. Her trifecta started a 6-0 run that saw the Leopards lead, 7-4, after Reagan Madonia made one of two free throws with 5:52 to play. However, the Lynx got a three from Leila Chisholm to even the score. Garabedian made a three with 3:56 left, starting a 9-3 run that gave the hosts a 16-10 lead at the end of the first quarter.
- Brianna Carroll extended the lead to 19-10 with a three early in the second quarter and the Leopards led, 24-16, after a Tita Rana jumper. A three from Chisholm and a layup by Bella Terry closed the gap to 24-21 with 4:08 left but a three-point play from Garabedian and one of two free throws from Brooke Carlson gave the Black & Gold a 28-21 lead with 3:01 left. Abbie Price made a three and Terry followed with a layup, narrowing the lead to 28-26 with 2:26 left but Carlson and Gabby Amoddio made back-to-back jumpers to increase the lead to 32-26 and the hosts led, 32-28, at the break.
- Opening the second half on a 14-2 run, Wentworth upped its lead to 46-30 and held Lesley without a field goal until 1:24 left in the quarter when Chisholm made a jumper. The Black & Gold led, 48-34, after three quarters of play.
- A layup by Elise Ayer and a pair of free throws from Madonia gave the Leopards their largest lead of the contest, 52-34, with 7:42 left. Using a 13-2 run, the Lynx pulled within seven (54-47) with 2:59 left. Carroll and Jaira Moore traded baskets making it a seven-point game with 1:29 remaining and the Leopards held on for the 59-52 win.
- Garabedian also had five steals in the contest. Maddy Foster also scored in double figures for Wentworth, scoring 12 points. Amoddio grabbed nine rebounds and dished out four assists. Wentworth had a 42-37 rebounding advantage.
SERIES NOTES:
- Wentworth has won all six series meetings between the two teams.
