Women's Basketball Falls at Endicott
Gulls best Leopards, 68-41; Tita Rana ties team lead with eight rebounds, Maddy Foster leads Black & Gold with 18 points

BEVERLY, Mass. – Sarah Dempsey of the Endicott Gulls' women's basketball team dropped a game-high 21 points on 9-for-12 shooting and notched a double-double with 14 boards as the Blue & Green defeated Wentworth Institute of Technology by a 68-41 score in Conference of New England play Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Gulls boost their record to 14-5 and 10-2 in CNE play. The Black & Gold fall to 2-17 and 0-12 in conference action.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Endicott began the contest with an 8-2 run, featuring two trifectas from Kiley Drezek, before a Dempsey layup later pushed their lead to 13-5. Samantha Jones hit a layup of her own to cut the deficit before the two teams swapped scores to a 20-11 game. Taylor Garabedian drained a layup to cut the deficit to 20-13 before Endicott scored four straight to hold a 24-13 lead after the opening frame.
- The Gulls rattled off five straight in the opening of the second quarter, pushing their lead to 29-13, before Garabedian and Maddy Foster layups sandwiched a make for Endicott, raising the score to 31-17. Foster and Libby Fleming traded baskets to later lift the score to 35-21 before the Gulls finished the frame with a 7-2 run, capped by a Dempsey three, to hold a 42-23 advantage.
- Wentworth cut the deficit to 42-27 with four straight to begin the third quarter before Fleming scored four straight for the Gulls. The two teams traded scores, working the game to 51-33, before five straight from Dempsey extended Endicott's lead to 56-33. A Foster layup helped Wentworth carve into the deficit, with the Gulls holding for a 58-36 lead.
- The Blue & Green dropped ten straight points in the fourth frame, stretching their lead to 68-36, before a Foster three and a Gabby Amoddio make cut the deficit to 68-41. Dempsey's game-high was followed by Foster who led Wentworth with 18 points.
SERIES NOTES:
- Today marked the 44th all-time meeting between the two teams.
