Women's Basketball Battles UNE
Nor'Easters use a strong second and third quarter to claim victory; Tita Rana scores a team-high eight points

BOSTON, Mass. – Sydney Jenisch scored a game-high 14 points, leading five student-athletes in double figures, as the University of New England women's basketball team defeated Wentworth Institute of Technology, 76-38, in Conference of New England play on Tuesday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- A slow start to the contest saw just four points scored in nearly the first five minutes of the opening quarter. UNE took a 9-0 lead with 4:38 left. Tita Rana got the Leopards on the board with a pair of free throws 19 seconds later and the Leopards made it a 13-9 game when Maddie Gaynor hit a three with 44 seconds left. A Faye Veilleux layup with 14 seconds left gave the Nor'Easters a 15-9 lead after one quarter.
- UNE outscored Wentworth by a 17-6 margin in the second quarter, taking a 32-15 lead into the locker room. Taylor Garabedian scored four of the Leopards' six points in the quarter, while Rana added two.
- Using a 23-6 run in the third quarter, UNE extended its lead to 55-21 after three quarters of action. The Nor'Easters put distance between themselves and the Black & Gold with a 10-4 run to open the fourth quarter.
- In addition to Jenisch's 14 points, Mia Arcario Ella Karavanic each scored 11, while Veilleux and Kaia Anderson had 10 apiece.
- Rana led the Leopards with eight points, while Gabby Amoddio grabbed a game-high eight rebounds.
SERIES NOTES:
- Tonight was the 47th all-time meeting between the two schools.
