Endicott Pushes Past Women's Lacrosse

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's lacrosse team remained unbeaten in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play as the Gulls took a 23-8 at victory over Wentworth.

The Gulls' sixth win in a row boosts Endicott's record to 8-1 overall and 4-0 in CCC play. The Leopards slip to 3-5 (0-3) with the loss.

Freshman Emily Whitney (Rye, N.H.) scored six points – all in the first half – and was complemented by a hat trick from freshman Meghan Lennon (Canton, Mass.), freshman Sofia Filippi (Hudson, Mass.), and junior Katie Tierney (South Hadley, Mass.) as well as two goals and two assists from junior Ellie Clayman (Beverly, Mass.). Senior Rachel Campos (Shrewsbury, Mass.) had five caused turnovers.

Wentworth saw seven different players record a goal with freshman Brandie Holland (Lynn, Mass.) netting two goals while junior Alexandrea Banks (Ellington, Conn.) caused six turnovers, collected eight ground balls, and scored a goal.

Endicott had the advantage on draw controls 23-8 with Lennon snatching a game-high seven and Murphy adding five. On the defensive side of the ball, the Blue and Green caused 23 turnovers as Campos' five led the way.

Banks for Wentworth led all players with six of her team's 16 caused turnovers. Junior Heather Saroch (Arnold, Md.) added three caused turnovers with Beverly Farris (Palmer, Mass.) causing two and matching Holland with a game-high eight ground balls. Junior Robyn Pacini (Stoneham, Mass.) made four saves in the first half while sophomore Hayley Patton (Cranston, R.I.) made five saves in the second half.

In net, Ryan Socolow (Westford, Mass.) earned the win as Endicott held a 16-5 lead after 30 minutes of play. Socolow gave way to junior goalie Michelle Truncali (Unionville, Conn.) who made two saves and allowed just three goals on five shots faced.

Wentworth is at Nichols on Saturday.
