Endicott Soars Past Women's Lacrosse

BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore Emily Whitney (Rye, N.H.) scored three goals and added four assists for a game-high seven points to help pace the Endicott College women's lacrosse team to a 21-2 win over Wentworth Institute of Technology in Commonwealth Coast Conference action on Sweeney Field.

With the win the Gulls notch their second straight victory to improve to 6-3 overall and 2-1 in league play while the Leopards fall to 2-4 (0-4) after dropping their fourth straight.

Whitney scored her first of three first half goals a minute into the action to put the Gulls up early. Sophomore Meghan Lennon (Canton, Mass.) also added a trio of goals in the first. Sophomore Emily Cutting (Ferrisburgh, Vt.) freshman Erin McCarthy (Old Lyme, Conn.) each added a pair of goals for Endicott in the half.

The Leopards got on the board with a little over nine minutes left thanks to an unassisted goal from freshman Alissa Cirio (Walhalla, N.Y.), her second of the season. Senior Jessica Houghton (Billerica, Mass.) scored her 11th of the season with junior Pam Mudge (Hooksett, N.H.) on the assist. Endicott led the Leopards 13-2 at the half.

McCarthy added a pair of goals in the second half, while six other Gulls scored for Endicott. The Leopards were held scoreless in the second half, as Endicott took the game 21-2.

Lennon won seven draws and scored three goals and an assist. McCarthy finished with four goals as 13 players tallied at least one point for the Gulls.

Houghton won four draws for the Black & Gold while senior Alexandrea Banks (Ellington, Conn.) caused three turnovers.

Starting sophomore goalie Maura Grady (Marblehead, Mass.) held the Leopards scoreless in her 18:14 of work. Freshman Molly Lane (Durham, Maine) made two saves over the final 41:46. Senior Robyn Pacini (Stoneham, Mass.) made nine saves in net.

Wentworth hosts Fitchburg State Thursday night at 7 p.m. in non-conference action. Endicott travels to fifth-ranked Bowdoin on Saturday afternoon.
