Roger Williams Cruises Past Women's Lacrosse

BRISTOL, R.I. – Sophomore McKenna Everding (Fayetteville, N.Y.) scored six goals to help pace the Roger Williams University women's lacrosse team to its sixth straight win, a 19-4 victory over Wentworth Institute of Technology in Commonwealth Coast Conference action on Saturday afternoon.

With the win the Hawks improve to 8-3 overall and 5-0 in CCC play while the leopards fall to 3-7 (0-6).

Roger Williams scored the first seven goals of the contest with senior Deven Machette (Norwalk, Conn.) scoring four times and classmate Kelsey Rahilly (East Longmeadow, Mass.) assisting on three goals.

The Leopards got on the board with 18:36 left in the half on a goal from senior Alexandrea Banks (Ellington, Conn.) before the Hawks responded with five straight as Rahilly and Everding had two each and Machette picked up two assists. Roger Williams led 12-1 at the half.

Everding scored 4:42 into the second half to make it 13-1, however Wentworth scored back-to-back goals as senior Jessica Houghton (Billerica, Mass.) was set up by classmate Beverly Farris (Palmer, Mass.) and freshman Alissa Cirio (Valhalla, N.Y.) connected on a free position shot.

Roger Williams would score the next five goals, holding the Leopards scoreless for 13:49 before sophomore Molly Dufresne (Plaistow, N.H.) broke the drought. The Hawks tallied late to round out the scoring.

In addition to Everding's six markers, Machette had four goals and three assists and won seven draw controls, while Rahilly finished with two goals and six assists.

Houghton had a goal, five draw controls, and three ground balls while Banks scored a goal and scooped up five ground balls.

Sophomore Kimberly Bolk (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) made two saves in the first half to pick up the win while classmate Annie Bartkus (Bedford, Mass.) made five saves in the second half. Senior Robyn Pacini (Stoneham, Mass.) made nine saves. Roger Williams had a 37-15 shot advantage while ground balls were even at 22-all.

Both teams are in action on Tuesday. Wentworth is at Salve Regina and Roger Williams is at Western New England.
