BOSTON, Mass. – Junior Taylor Scialdone (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) led all scorers with four goals while also adding two assists, as the Western New England women's lacrosse team topped Wentworth Institute of Technology 17-7 in Commonwealth Coast Conference action Wednesday night at Sweeney Field.

With the win the Golden Bears wrap up the regular season with a 14-2 overall record and will be the number one seed in the upcoming CCC Tournament after finishing league play with an 8-0 record. The Leopards end their season at 4-8 (0-8), however, set a program record for wins.

The Golden Bears wasted little time getting on the board as senior Jessica Scannapieco (Blue Bell, Pa.) scored just 17 seconds into the contest. Senior Kaitlynn Stevens (Stratford, Conn.) followed up to make it 2-0, 20 seconds later. Junior Pam Mudge (Hooksett, N.H.) gave the Leopards their first goal to make it 2-1 with 28:32 left.

Western New England would score 10 straight in a span of just under 11 minutes to take a 12-1 lead. Senior Emily Klag (Milford, Pa.), Scialdone, and Scannapieco each scored a pair of goals in the run.

Mudge scored her second goal to ice the run at 7:37 to make the score 12-2. Stevens followed up with a score and senior Jessica Houghton (Billerica, Mass.) ended the first half scoring with 39 seconds remaining to make it 13-3 at halftime.

Houghton started the second half scoring, however the Golden Bears followed up with three straight goals, including junior Tori Cirocco (Carmel, N.Y.) scoring her 32nd goal of the year. Mudge, Houghton, and senior Alexandrea Banks (Ellington, Conn.) each scored for three unanswered Leopard goals to make it 16-7. Scialdone scored the final goal of the game with 45 seconds remaining, sealing the 17-7 victory.

In addition to Scialdone's six points, Stevens and Scannapieco each scored three goals for the visitors while junior Brooke Kumnick (Granby, Conn.) tallied a game high three assists. Scannapieco also had six draw controls.

Mudge finished with three goals and an assist and Houghton had three goals and three draw controls. Banks had a goal, six ground balls, and two caused turnovers.

Senior Emily Castleman (Wilbraham, Mass.) started the first half and made four saves to earn the win. Freshman goalie Shannon McFadden (West Islip, N.Y.) played the second half and stopped four stops. Senior goalie Robyn Pacini (Stoneham, Mass.) made 14 saves in net for Wentworth.
