BOSTON, Mass. – A pair of late second-half goals from freshman Georgia Schindele (Sparkill, N.Y.) helped lift Wheelock College in a 13-9 win over the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team on Saturday afternoon at Sweeney Field.

Wheelock improves to 2-2 with the win, while Wentworth drops to 2-3.

The Wildcats spared little time getting the offense going as they powered out four tallies in a span of eight minutes, including two from senior Emma Marrs (Old Lyme, Conn.), to give the visitors an early 5-2 lead. After a freshman Lean Cummins (Plymouth, Mass.) marker made it 5-3, five straight Wheelock goals, including two from Marrs put the Wildcats ahead 10-3 with 3:49 left in the half.

Wentworth tallied a pair of goals in a span of 26 seconds with senior Pam Mudge (Hooksett, Mass.) and sophomore Alissa Cirio (Valhalla, N.Y.) making it a 10-5 game with 3:09 left in the frame and the margin would remain five at the break.

The Leopards scored the first four goals of the second half to pull within one. Cummins scored 17 seconds into the half, followed by a pair from Glavin, and junior Brandie Holland (Lynn, Mass.) scored with 18:38 left.

However, that would be as close as Wentworth would get as Schindele scored with 15:32 and 9:26 left to make it 12-9 and freshman Colleen MacDonald (Sandwich, Mass.) completed the scoring with 7:17 left.

A Wentworth turnover with 6:00 left gave the Wildcats the ball and Wheelock maintained possession to run out the clock.

Marrs finished with four goals and three assists while Schindele had four goals and MacDonald added three goals and a pair of assists. Marrs also had a team-high six ground balls.

Freshman Brooke Paradis (Pelham, N.H.) had two goals and an assist for the Black & Gold while Cummins and Glavin added two goals each. Paradis and Cummins won nine and five draw controls, respectively, and Mudge scooped up three ground balls.

Junior Meghan Lewis (South Berwick, Maine) made 10 saves for the Wildcats while senior Hayley Patton (Cranston, R.I.) made six stops for Wentworth. The Leopards had a 22-21 shot advantage and won 19 of 24 draw controls while the Wildcats held a 21-13 ground ball advantage.

Wentworth takes on Maine-Farmington at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Wheelock returns home to face Rhode Island College on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
