Roger Williams, which had a perfect Commonwealth Coast Conference women's lacrosse season last year, was selected to repeat as champions in 2017 as the Hawks earned the top spot in the 2017 CCC Women's Lacrosse Preseason Coaches' Poll.

The Hawks received 78 points in the voting completed by the league's nine women's lacrosse head coaches, including six first place votes.

Last year's championship runner-up, Endicott, received two first place votes in the poll and 69 total points to claim the second spot in this year's rankings. Western New England received the final first place vote and 61 points to land in the third spot. The University of New England and Gordon finished fourth and fifth, respectively, with 60 and 44 points.

Salve Regina (32 points), Curry (31), Nichols (20), and Wentworth (10) closed out the table in that order.

With 11 letterwinners returning from last season's squad, the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team continues to make positive strides towards earning its first appearance in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament. The Leopards, who enter the 2017 campaign with four years of varsity experience under their belts, set program records for goals (136), points (177), and draw controls (169) a season ago and look to build on that success moving forward.

Two of Wentworth's five leading scorers return for the Black & Gold, including sophomore Brooke Paradis (Pelham, N.H.) who set program records for goals (44) and points (54) as a rookie and also scooped up 43 ground balls, won 53 draw controls and caused 15 turnovers. Senior Brandie Holland (Lynn, Mass.) returns after scoring 17 points on 16 goals and an assist. Sophomore Leah Cummins (Plymouth, Mass.) had a freshman season which saw her score 13 points (nine goals, four assists) while junior Sam Webb (Duxbury, Mass.) had 24 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers a season ago.

Wentworth opens the season on Wednesday, March 1, at Mount Ida.
