Nor'Easters Storm Past Women's Lacrosse

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Anna Stowell (Sutton, N.H.) tallied five goals for the University of New England women's lacrosse team, which saw 12 players record at least one point in a 20-4 Commonwealth Coast Conference victory over Wentworth Institute of Technology on Tuesday afternoon.

With the win UNE climbed over the .500 mark to 7-6, while improving its conference mark to 4-1. The Leopards fell to 2-10 overall and 0-6 in CCC play.

Jocelyn Davee (Freeport, Maine) scored three times for the Nor'easters, and Nichole Carvalho (south Kingstown, R.I.) and Megann Pelletier (Nashua, N.H.) each notched a pair of goals. Natasha Nary (Dover, N.H.) had a goal and three assists to register four points.

Wentworth's Brooke Paradis (Pelham, N.H.) had a pair of goals, and Kaitlyn Darveau (South China, Maine) and Leah Cummins (Plymouth, Mass.) one each to account for the Leopards' scoring output.

Leading 9-3 at intermission, UNE put the game out of reach early in the second frame, scoring eight times in the initial 12:14. Stowell and Davee combined for five of those goals.

The Nor'easters held margins in shots (39-18) and draw controls (19-7) and were successful on 17 of 23 clearing attempts. Bohunsky had five ground balls to lead UNE and was one of three Nor'easters (O'Grady and Kimberly Gosselin) with four draw controls. Jolena Lampron caused three turnovers for UNE, which received six saves from goalkeeper Maritza Nary (Dover, N.H.).

Natalie Wood (Holden, Mass.) finished with five ground balls for Wentworth, while Paradis won four draw controls. Cummins and Sam Webb (Duxbury, Mass.) had three caused turnovers apiece. Liz Gunning (Fort Salonga, N.Y.) totaled 10 stops in goal.

Wentworth will play a non-conference road game at New England College tomorrow.
