First Half Run Key in New England College's Win over Women's Lacrosse

HENNIKER, N.H. – Sophomore Tara Bainbridge (South Hadley, Mass.) scored eight goals and assisted on four others as the New England College women's lacrosse team rolled to a 20-2 win over Wentworth Institute of Technology in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon.

With the win the Pilgrims improve to 5-6 while the Leopards fall to 2-11.

New England College jumped on the board 2:11 into the contest which started a string of six straight Pilgrim goals to open the contest. Wentworth got on the board on a goal from freshman Shannon Sturtz (Littleton, Mass.) with 5:14 left to cut the deficit to 6-1.

The Pilgrims reeled off 12 straight markers with four each coming from Bainbridge and senior Allison Granata (Norwalk, Conn.). Wentworth's scoring drought ended with 10:43 left in the contest on a sophomore Brooke Paradis (Pelham, N.H.) goal.

In addition to Bainbridge, sophomore Alana Scott (Huntington, Vt.) chipped in with three goals and three assists, while Granata scored four goals. Scott also had nine draw control wins, while Granata was close behind with eight. Both Granata and Kaitlyn Berry (Canterbury, N.H.) tallied five ground balls apiece.

Sturtz and Paradis scored goals for Wentworth, while sophomores Jenna Tetreau (Dudley, Mass.) and Caitlin McCormick (Hanson, Mass.) both had assists. Senior Brandie Holland (Lynn, Mass.) and McCormick each tallied two draw control wins, while junior Sam Webb (Duxbury, Mass.) had a team-best three ground balls.

New England College senior Mackenzie Meagan (Phoenix, Ariz.) made eight saves in the win. Sophomore Liz Gunning (Fort Salonga, N.Y.) made 14 stops in the loss for the Leopards. The Pilgrims held a 41-16 advantage in shots and a 24-10 edge in ground balls.

Wentworth is at Elms on April 20.
