Women's Lacrosse Falls to Kenyon

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Junior Lucy Somers (Westwood, Mass.) scored five goals and assisted on two others to help pace the Kenyon College women's lacrosse team to a 26-2 win over Wentworth Institute of Technology in a non-conference contest played at Hilton Head Prep.

With the win the Ladies improve to 4-2 on the season while the Leopards fall to 0-3.

Kenyon scored the first nine goals of the contest before Wentworth got on the board after a free-position shot from freshman Emily Rogers (Pembroke, Mass.) with 13:08 remaining. However, the Ladies rolled off the next eight goals to take a 17-1 lead at the half.

Scoring the first six goals of the second half, Kenyon extended its lead to 23-1. Sophomore Julie Dam (Milford, Mass.) scored Wentworth's second goal, which came with 15:18 remaining. The Ladies rounded out the scoring with three goals in the final 11:29.

In addition to scoring one of the Leopards' goals, Rogers had a team-high five draw controls. Freshman Lily Kuhns (Gloucester, Mass.) made four saves in the first half while junior Liz Gunning (Northport, N.Y.) made six stops in the final 30 minutes.
