Paradis Records 200th Career Point; Leopards Win Second Straight

Bayamon, P.R. – Wentworth women's lacrosse senior Brooke Paradis (Pelham, N.H.) registered her 200th career point in a 13-6 victory over Saint Joseph's (Me.) on Friday morning in Bayamon, P.R.

The Leopards head back to Boston at 2-0 overall, while the Monks dropped both contests on their spring break trip to Puerto Rico and fall to 0-2.

Paradis opened the scoring just under five minutes in, and added two more goals alongside a pair of goals from sophomore Emily Rogers (Pembroke, Mass.) for five unanswered goals. Freshman Sarah Galen (Colchester, Mass.) extended the gap 6-0, before the Monks netted back-to-back goals from sophomores Emily Ryan (Wakefield, Mass.) and Josie Ring (Newfield, Maine). Sophomore Lily Kuhns (Gloucester, Mass.) halted the Monks at just two goals in the first half, saving six shots on frame for the 8-2 lead at halftime.

Saint Joseph's battled against the Black & Gold in the second half, answering all but one goal in the final thirty minutes. Freshman Logan Champlin (Alfred, Maine) got one backs for the Monks just a minute into the half, but each Saint Joseph's goal was answered by a Leopard tally, until Rogers netted her fourth goal for the 11-4 lead. Both teams closed the game with two more goals apiece, but Wentworth relied on its heavy first-half for the 13-6 final.

Paradis' all-time leading 202 points came off three goals and two assists, with five draw controls and five ground balls. Rogers led the Leopards with five goals, an assist, and four draw controls, while Galan recorded her first collegiate hat trick. Freshman Jorgie Pashalian (Cranston, R.I.), and junior Shannon Sturtz (Littleton, Mass.) rounded out the scoring for the Leopards.

In net, Lily Kuhns moved to 2-0 with 15 saves on the day, and combined for 27 overall during the spring break trip.

Junior Maddy Beaulieu (West Gardiner, Maine) was the lone Monk with a multi-goal performance, and registered two goals, an assist, and two ground balls. Ryan, Kelly, Ring, and Champlin all found the back of the net once in the effort.

Junior Kaylin Mansir (West Gardiner, Maine) and freshman Madelyn Nelson (Casco, Maine) split time in the cage for Saint Joseph's, as Mansir suffered the loss with six saves of first-half action. Nelson stopped five shots in second-half relief.

Wentworth opens its home schedule on Monday, March 11 with a 6:00 p.m. game against Emmanuel.
