Galan, Kuhns Pick Up CCC Weekly Awards

BOSTON, Mass. – After posting two more wins in its best start in program history, the Wentworth women's lacrosse team landed two CCC weekly award winners as announced by the league office Monday afternoon. For the second week in a row, freshman Sarah Galan (Colchester, Conn.) was named as Rookie of the Week, while sophomore Lily Kuhns (Gloucester, Mass.) earned Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career.

The Leopards improved to 4-0 overall with two wins against Emmanuel and Wellesley College, as Galan led the offense with 12 goals and two assists for 14 points. She added five goals against the Saints while also winning six draw controls, before setting a new season-high with seven goals to propel the Leopards to their first win over a NEWMAC team. Galan collectively won ten draw controls and caused two turnovers, while grabbing eight ground balls.

Kuhns earns her first collegiate honor from the CCC after backstopping the Leopards to the unblemished 2-0 week with a combined 30 saves. She had multi-save performances in each game, highlighted by a season-high 18 saves in the Leopards' triumph over Wellesley. Kuhns has all four wins to her name this season, and currently ranks first in the conference with 57 total saves.

Wentworth is back on Sweeney Field tomorrow night for a non-conference matchup against UMaine Farmington at 7:00 p.m.
