Paradis Nets 200th Career Goal in Conference Win over Nichols

BOSTON, Mass. –  Senior Brooke Paradis (Pelham, N.H.) netted her 200th career goal while setting the record for goals in a single game to lead the Wentworth women's lacrosse team to a 21-6 victory over Nichols College Saturday afternoon.

Wentworth earns its first win in conference (1-2) and improves to 7-2 overall, while the Bison dip 2-6 this season and 0-3 against league opponents.

Sophomore Emily Rogers (Pembroke, Mass.) also contributed with a career milestone, as her first goal of the game was her 100th career point. Rogeres and senior Jenna Tetreau (Dudley, Mass.) gave the Black & Gold an early 2-0 lead, before Nichols sophomore Kirsten Sullivan (Arlington, Mass.) got one back for the Bison on a free position goal. Paradis assisted on Wentworth's ensuing goal, then scored her first of the game for a 4-1 lead, but Sullivan struck again for Nichols to bridge the gap 4-2 with 16:09 left in the half.

Wentworth's offense exploded as the Leopards scored 10 straight goals before halftime, five of which came from Paradis. Sophomore Lily Kuhns (Gloucester, Mass.) stopped all four Bison attempts after their initial two goals – two of which were free position shots – as Wentworth held a 14-2 lead at the half.

The clock continued to run in the league contest as the Black & Gold outscored the visitors 7-4 over the final 30 minutes. Paradis' milestone marker came with 8:45 left in regulation, scoring on a free position opportunity, and added her final tally with just over five minutes to go. Paradis surpassed the previous single-game goals record of nine goals, which she set last season, also versus the Bison, and is Wentworth's career-leaders in goals, assists, and points.

Wentworth dominated Nichols on the stat sheet, and held a 17-11 advantage in draw controls, nine of which were won by Paradis. The Leopards also outshined the Bison in ground balls 31-20, controlled by a game-high seven from Rogers.

Rogers picked up seven draw controls and scored four goals with an assist, while freshman Sarah Galan (Colchester, Conn.) rounded out multi-goal performances with two tallies. Tetreau and juniors Marissa Nelson (Cranston, R.I.), Kaitlyn Darveau (South China, Maine) and Julie Dam (Milford, Mass.) each found the back of the net once in the winning effort.

For the Bison, Sullivan netted a hat trick as Nichols' lone multi-scorer. Juniors Danielle Kozloski (Pepperell, Mass.) and Miranda Smith (Methuen, Mass.) and sophomore McKenna Gernander (Coleraine, Minn.) accounted for the remaining goals.

Kuhns stopped seven of 13 shots faced and improves to 5-2 in the cage for Wentworth. Junior Emily Eagan (Hingham, Mass.) drops to 0-6 this season and recorded 13 saves.

The Leopards are on the road for their next conference matchup when they travel to Biddeford, Maine on Tuesday, April 2 for a 4:00 p.m. draw at UNE.
