Undefeated Roger Williams Topples Women's Lacrosse

BOSTON, Mass. –  The Roger Williams University women's lacrosse team remained undefeated in Commonwealth Coast Conference play, defeating Wentworth Institute of Technology 23-3 on Saturday afternoon.

Roger Williams, now 6-0 in the CCC, improves to 10-3 overall, while the Leopards drop to 1-5 against league opponents and 8-5 this season.

The Hawks started the contest with four unanswered goals before senior Brooke Paradis (Pelham, N.H.) broke open the scoring for Wentworth with 15 minutes left in the half. Freshman Sarah Galan (Colchester, Conn.) scored again for the Leopards off a feed from sophomore Emily Rogers (Pembroke, Mass.), but the Hawks hit running time with 2:50 left in the half, which ran throughout the remainder of the contest.

Paradis notched two goals in the setback and caused five turnovers with seven draw controls. Galan found the back of the net once for the Leopards, causing four turnovers, while senior Madyson Reno (Superior, Colo.) scooped up three ground balls.

Sophomore Lily Kuhns (Gloucester, Mass.) suffered the loss with five saves in first-half action. Junior Sophia Pike (Eliot, Maine) came in for second-half relief for Wentworth in her first appearance in the cage this season.

Wentworth travels to Salve Regina on Tuesday for its final regular-season road test at 4:00 p.m.
