Women's Soccer Edged by Roger Williams

BOSTON, Mass. – Junior Kristen Tetreault (Tolland, Conn.) netted a pair of first-half goals to pace the No. 15 Roger Williams women's soccer team to a 2-1 win over Wentworth in the Commonwealth Coast Conference opener for both teams played on Sweeney Field.

A back and forth start to the game yielded very few scoring chances for both teams until the 21:23 mark when freshman Kristen Casey (East Longmeadow, Mass.) set up for a direct kick and chipped the ball to Tetreault, whose header beat Leopard sophomore keeper Miranda Stuckey (Lafayette, Ind.) to the left side.

Tetreault notched her second of the contest at 37:10 when she buried a shot to the upper left corner off a feed from sophomore Haley Carignan (Scarborough, Maine).

Wentworth got on the board at the 51:43 when junior Olivia Moore (Salem, Conn.) served a low cross from the left flank in front of the six-yard box where freshman Amanda Weinberger (Colchester, Conn.) one-timed the cross to the lower left side.

Senior Stephanie Jaques (Burlington, Vt.) made four saves for the Hawks, while Stuckey turned aside eight shots. Roger Williams held a 14-7 shot advantage on the day.

With the win the Hawks improve to 6-0 overall (1-0 CCC) and host MIT Wednesday afternoon. Wentworth (1-3-1, 0-1) hosts UMass Dartmouth, also on Wednesday.
