Women's Soccer Prevails in Overtime

DUDLEY, Mass. – Junior Olivia Moore (Salem, Conn.) scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season at 103:48 when she redirected a cross from sophomore Taylor Van Zile (Pine Beach, N.J.) with her head, lifted the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's soccer team to a 1-0, double-overtime win over Nichols in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Saturday afternoon at the Nichols Soccer Field.

The Leopards (2-4-1, 1-1-0 CCC) outshot the Bison 20-7 – including 5-1 in the extra sessions – and held a 10-1 edge in corner kicks. Junior Alyssa Tosti (Douglas, Mass.) led the Bison with four shots while Moore took a game-high six.

Wentworth had a chance late in regulation to take the lead, however freshman Valeria Zapata's (Pawtucket, R.I.) was turned aside by junior Sarah Whitestone (Dalton, Mass.). The Leopards had a pair of chances late in the first overtime, but Whitestone kept the game tied.

Leopard sophomore Miranda Stuckey (Lafayette, Ind.) made three saves to move to 2-3-1 on the season, while Whitestone made a dozen stops.

The Bison (4-4-0, 0-2-0 CCC) return to action on Tuesday with a 4 p.m. home match with Fisher. Wentworth (2-4-1, 1-1-0) plays at WPI Tuesday at 7 p.m.
