Women's Soccer Comeback Falls Short

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – Junior forward Marisa Parent (Revere, Mass.) notched her second hat trick of the season as the Framingham State University women's soccer team defeated Wentworth 5-3 in non-conference women's soccer action this afternoon at Maple Street Field.

With the win the Rams improve their season mark to 9-1-1, while the Leopards fall to 5-7-2 with the loss.
Wentworth grabbed the early lead with a goal in the 8th minute.  The Framingham State net minder came off the line to challenge and junior Olivia Moore (Salem, Conn.) launched a shot at the empty net that slipped just inside the far post.  Moore was assisted on her 12th tally of the season by senior Jenelle Wolff (Lynnfield, Mass.).

The Rams answered with four goals over a 13 minute span late in the half to take control of the game.  Junior Isabela DeSouza (Framingham, Mass.) struck first in the 21st minute with a nifty left footed shot from the 18.  Parent followed with her three markers giving the Rams a 4-1 advantage at the break.  At the 25 minute mark, Parent put a shot inside the far post off a throw in and then in the 29th she took a feed from senior Kayla Austin (Winchester, Mass.) in the box and once again finished on the far post.  Parent finished the scoring in the half in the 34th minute when she knocked home a rebound off her own shot for her team leading 14th goal of the season.

Wentworth got two goals back in the second half to cut the Rams lead down to one.  In the 59th minute Moore tallied her second of the game on a breakaway and freshman Amanda Weinberger (Colchester, Conn.) tallied off another Wolff assist in the 62nd minute.

DeSouza tacked on an insurance goal off an Austin assist in the 82nd minute to reach the final margin.
Junior Lauren Hoole (Dracut, Mass.) picked up the victory in net for the Leopards making one save, while junior Nicole Leahey (Warwick, R.I.) was tagged with the loss making four stops.
