BOSTON, Mass. – Post-season accolades continue to pile up for the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's soccer team as today three members of the program were honored by the ECAC as members of the New England Division III All-Star Team. Junior Mary Pastorelli (Whitesboro, N.Y.) was named the ECAC Division III Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Year and was a first team honoree, classmate Morgan Miller (Schenectady, N.Y.) was named Second Team All-ECAC and head coach Bobby Desilets was named the 2015 ECAC Division III New England Women's Soccer Coach of the Year.
Pastorelli and Miller's selection to the ECAC All-Star team comes on the heels of both student-athletes being named All-New England by the National Soccer Coaches' Association of America on December 3.
The 2015 Commonwealth Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year and two-time All-CCC selection, Pastorelli has been a solid defender throughout her career and helped the Black & Gold post a team goals against average of 0.53 this past season, which includes a program record 12 shutouts. Wentworth allowed just 12 goals in 22 contests. Pastorelli has been charged with taking the bulk of the team's free kicks and twice scored goals off of them, while she added an assist when a teammate scored off one of her corner kicks and scored a goal off another one. She was named the CCC Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 5. In 59 career games (51 starts) she has been a team leader on defense and has 10 career points coming on four goals and two assists.
A three-time All-CCC honoree, Miller was a workhorse at midfield who has often controlled possession for the Leopards. Her versatility has led to numerous offensive chances for Wentworth throughout her career, and, offensively, she scored two goals and assisted on three others for a career-best seven points this season. She was named both the CCC and ECAC Defensive Player of the Week on September 8. In 64 career games (62 starts) she has three goals and four assists for 10 points.
In his fourth season as Wentworth's head coach, Desilets led the Leopards to a program record 17 wins (17-3-2), advanced to the semifinals of the CCC Tournament for the third straight season and made its first-ever appearance in the ECAC semifinals. In addition to breaking the single-season record for wins and shutouts, the Leopards posted program-best marks for goals against average, winning streak (11), and unbeaten streak (13). The 2015 CCC Women's Soccer Coach of the Year, he has a 39-32-11 (.543) record. Prior to arriving at Wentworth he was the Head Women's Soccer Coach at Newbury College and, in seven seasons as a collegiate head coach he has led his team to at least the conference tournament each season and owns a career record of 57-59-17 (.492) which includes five straight winning seasons.
