Perras Named to Academic All-District Team

BOSTON, Mass. – Senior defender Rachel Perras (Portsmouth, R.I.) of the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's soccer team has been named to the 2016 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District™ Women's Soccer Team. With her selection, Perras becomes the 26th Academic All-District selection in Wentworth history and is the third women's soccer player in program history to earn this honor.

The Academic All-District™ teams include student-athletes divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. This is the sixth year of the expanded Academic All-America® program as CoSIDA moved from recognizing a University Division (Division I) and a College Division (all non-Division I) and has doubled the number of scholar-athletes honored. The expanded teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division Academic All-America® Team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.

A backbone of the Leopard defense throughout her career, Perras has been a key reason as to why Wentworth has allowed just 13 goals in 18 games this season and has posted 10 shutouts. Starting 16 of the 18 games in which she has played, she also assisted on the game-winning goal in a 3-0 win over Western New England on Oct. 1.

Perras, who is a Computer Science major, has started 73 of the 79 games in which she has played during her four seasons and has been a part of a defense which has posted the top two goals against averages in program history. She also has four career assists on the offensive side. As a freshman, she was named Honorable Mention All-Commonwealth Coast Conference.

First Team Academic All-District™ honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
