BOSTON, Mass – For the second time in the last four meetings between the two schools, the Wentworth Institute of Technology and Gordon College women's soccer teams played to a 0-0 tie. The stalemate came on Sweeney Field Saturday afternoon in a Commonwealth Coast Conference matchup.

The Leopards, who played in their second straight and third overtime game of the season, sit at 3-4-1 (1-0-1 CCC) while the Fighting Scots are 3-1-2 (0-1-1).

Gordon put the hosts to the test early, putting five shots on net in the first 17:13, however junior Christie Fleming (Braintree, Mass.) kept the visitors off the board. Wentworth had a chance to take the lead in the 37th minute when junior Taylor Patti (Pittsfield, Mass.) took a free kick from 45 yards out. A defensive miscommunication led to an open net, however, a back line defender cleared the ball away just before it crossed the line.

Wentworth had a 7-6 shot advantage in the second half, with six of those seven shots going on net. Sophomore Kayli Denty (Marshfield, Mass.) made six saves in the second half.

The first overtime saw the Fighting Scots nearly win it, however, junior Jill Kefalas' (Wenham, Mass.) shot went just over the crossbar with 58 seconds left. In the second overtime, Leopard junior Emily Richard (Fremont, N.H.) had a breakaway bid denied by Denty in the 107th minute, and, Kefalas just missed a bid on a one-time less than a minute later.

Fleming made nine saves in 78:28. Classmate Micaela Robinson (Goshen, N.Y.) did not need to make a save in the final 31:32. Denty made 12 stops for Gordon which had a 20-18 shot advantage.

Wentworth hosts Western Connecticut on Monday night.
