Women's Soccer Plays to Scoreless Draw at Western New England

Springfield, Mass. – The Wentworth women's soccer team played to a double-overtime scoreless draw with Western New England in its second Commonwealth Coast Conference contest of the season Saturday afternoon.

Wentworth moves to 4-5-1 overall and 0-1-1 in league play, while WNE shifts to 2-6-2 this season and 0-1-1 in conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Leopards' junior goalkeeper Allison Haynes (Shelton, Conn.) made a career-high 12 saves in the shutout, including six in the first half.
  • Western New England outshot the visitors 27-10 and took the lone shot on target in double-overtime in the 102nd minute. Haynes denied the bid by Allison Bruehwiler in the only offensive threat of the extra-time segment.
  • Wentworth took three shots on target, all stopped by WNE keeper Alex Lemekha. All three shots on net were taken by senior Jess Poratti (Essex Junction, Vt.).

GOALKEEPERS

  • Haynes moves to 4-5-1 this season with her third career shutout which featured 12 saves.
  • Lemekha shifts to 2-6-2 with three saves.

NOTEWORTHY

  • Leopards played to third extra-time decision of this season.
