HOW IT HAPPENED:
- A quiet first half kicked off with an early far shot by senior Adriana Valenti (Bolton, Mass.) that went high over the opposition's goal just under a minute into play. After a shot from the Nor'easters a handful of minutes later, junior Lauren Bradley (Lumberton, N.J.) powered a shot that sailed wide.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Juliana Heaton (Swansea, Mass.) made three impressive saves in a span of 13 minutes after sustained pressure from UNE kept Wentworth hemmed in.
- The second half begun with a flux of nice passes from the Nor'easters. Junior Grace Wargo (East Lyme, Conn.) managed to gain possession of the ball off of a rebound shot and had nothing but net to shoot at, giving the Nor'easters a 1-0 lead at the 48:03 mark.
- 1:02 seconds later, graduate Diana Bruggeman (Natick, Mass.) shuffled through Nor'easter's backs, giving herself a great opportunity to shoot at a wide-open net on the short side. The score knotted the game at one goal apiece.
- It didn't take long for the Nor'easters to answer as junior Emily Martin (Arrowsic, Maine) chipped a shot over Heaton, off of the crossbar, and behind the goal line, giving UNE a 2-1 advantage at the 50:39 mark.
- At the 57:07 mark, junior Lizzie Frattaroli (Boston, Mass.) found herself with plenty of room to shoot after a strong pass from Martin made its way up the field. Her shot beat Heaton and put UNE ahead 3-1.
- Wentworth began applying pressure of their own. Bruggeman nicked a shot towards goal at the 71:14 mark that was stopped by freshman goalkeeper Ariel Martin (Denver, Colo.). At the 74:27 mark, senior Madison Wolf (Falmouth, Maine) made a similar shot to Emily Martin's, one that deflected off of the crossbar, off of Ariel Martin, and into the back of the net. The score started from a deep clear from Valenti, cutting the score to 3-2.
- Sophomore Maria Selman (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) took a desperate shot at the 88:41 mark only to be denied.
THE SERIES:
- Today marked the 37th meeting between the two teams. UNE owns the all-time series, 13-11-4
