Western New England Shuts Out Wentworth

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Western New England College women's tennis team blanked visiting Wentworth Institute of Technology, 9-0, Wednesday afternoon (Sept. 30) for its third shutout of the season.

 

This also was the third consecutive victory for the Golden Bears who improve their record to 8-2 overall and 6-2 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC).

 

WNEC all of its singles matches in straight sets dropping only 11 points in the six flights.

 

Sophomore Nicole DeSimone (Feeding Hills, MA) captured her No. 1 singles match by the score of 6-1, 6-0, and teamed with senior co-captain Kristen Ayers (Acton, MA) for an 8-2 win at the No. 1 doubles position.

 

The Leopards fall to 3-6 overall and 3-5 in the conference.
