BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott College secured its 10th win of the season on Tuesday, downing the Wentworth Institute of Technology Leopards, 8-1, in TCCC women's tennis action in Beverly, Mass. The Gulls are now 10-3 overall and 7-2 in league play. Wentworth drops to 4-7 and 4-6 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference.

 

The Gulls swept their way through the afternoon's opening doubles contests, dropping just three games combined between the trio of matches. Kate Cioffi (Essex, Vt.) and teammate Alyson Boehm (Lowell, Mass.) made quick work of Angela Brandt (Northport, Maine) and Jeannine Stover (Calais, Maine), 8-1. Nicole Breting (Johnston, R.I.) and Lori Wardner (Wrentham, Mass.) found similar success against Lydia Caserta (Hudson, N.H.) and Sophie Boyce (South Portland, Maine), as the pair posted an 8-0 blanking in No. 2 doubles. Rachel Layton (Falmouth, Maine) and Emily Annis (Hampton, N.H.) closed out doubles play with a solid 8-2 win over Natalya Cappellini (Falmouth, Mass.) and Lana Ho (Vineyard Haven, Mass.).

 

In singles play, Cioffi downed Angela Brandt in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0 while Breting followed suit with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Lydia Caserta. Lori Wardner 8-1 in TCCC matches at No. 3 singles with her 6-0, 6-1 win against Meredith Gratton. Alyson Boehm and Emily Annis picked up wins at No. 4 and No. 6 singles while Wentworth picked up its lone point of the day at No. 5 singles as Lana Ho took three sets to defeat Kerri Dunn (Middleton, Mass.), 6-4, 3-6, 7-5.

 

The Blue and Green return to action on October 9th with a makeup match against Regis College in Weston Mass. at 3:30 p.m. Wentworth hits the courts on October 8th as the Leopards step out of conference play for a matchup at UMass-Dartmouth at 3:30 p.m.
