Women's Tennis Falls to Endicott

BOSTON, Mass. – Defending Commonwealth Coast Conference Champion Endicott won its seventh straight match and remained unbeaten in CCC play as the Gulls swept Wentworth, 9-0, at Harvard University's Beren Tennis Center.

The Gulls number one doubles team of sophomore Chrissy Martel (Westbrook, Conn.) and sophomore Natalie Egbert (Gorham, Maine) defeated Wentworth sophomore Caitlin Corcoran (Brockton, Mass.) and junior Deborah Massaro (Stony Point, N.Y.), 8-1, while sophomore Amy Heacox (Marion, Mass.) teamed with freshman Brittany Potter (Bedford, N.H.) to take an 8-2 win at number two over senior Sophie Boyce (South Portland, Maine) and sophomore Val Maccarone (Cranston, R.I.). Freshmen Suzie Newman (Dighton, Mass.) and Savannah Deady (Andover, Mass.) completed the doubles sweep with an 8-3 win over freshmen Nicole McColgan (Tewksbury, Mass.) and Laura Boyd (Woodstock, Vt.) at number three.

Egbert defeated Boyce, 6-0, 6-1, at number three before senior Gina Pinciaro (Beverly, Mass.) clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-1 win over McColgan.

Martel was a 6-0, 6-3 winner over Massaro at number two and freshman Sarah Hill (Topsham, Maine) defeated Boyd at number six, 6-0, 6-0.

Junior Annie Gluskin (Duxbury, Mass.) took a 6-1, 6-0 decision over Maccarone at number five before junior Emilie Cloutier (Lewiston, Maine) closed out the match with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Corcoran at number one.

With the win Endicott improves to 8-1 overall and 5-0 in CCC play. The Gulls are back in action tomorrow, hosting Merrimack. Wentworth falls to 3-7 (2-3) and is at Western New England on Saturday.
