BOSTON, Mass. – Senior Deborah Massaro (Stony Point, N.Y.) picked up her program-best 27th career win with her straight set victory at number two singles as the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's tennis team improved to 5-4 on the season with a 7-2 win over Suffolk at Harvard University's Beren Tennis Center.

The Leopards earned a clean sweep at doubles play, beginning with sophomore Caitlin Corcoran (Brockton, Mass.) and junior Virginia Ofer's (Cooperstown, N.Y.) 8-2 win at number one over seniors Lizzy Arkins (Melrose, Mass.) and Stacey Politis (Saugus, Mass.). Senior Olivia Hegner (Medford, Mass.) and junior Val Maccarone (Cranston, R.I.) took an 8-4 win at number three over sophomore Rebecca Eshoo (Farmington, Conn.) and freshman Abby Trigilio (Ipswich, Mass.) before Massaro teamed with sophomore Nicole McColgan (Tewksbury, Mass.) to win, 9-8 (7-4) over junior Adrianna Garrett (Plymouth, Mass.) and senior Melissa Chermely (Walpole, Mass.).

Corcoran got singles started with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Arkins at number one and Hegner's 6-1, 6-4 win over Trigilio would clinch the match for the Black & Gold. Massaro improved to 27-18 all-time in singles play with a 6-0, 6-1 win at number two over Garrett before the Rams scored the next two points as Eshoo defeated Ofer (6-2, 6-4) and Chermely bested junior Marisa Page (Warwick, R.I.), 6-2, 6-3 at number five. McColgan completed the match with a 6-4, 6-4 win over senior Allison Weisenbach (Hamden, Conn.).

The Leopards host Roger Williams on Sunday at Noon, while Suffolk (0-5) is idle until traveling to Springfield on Oct. 3.
